Flip Video Camcorder Technology Description

Flip video camcorders are small, inexpensive, easy to use, High Definition, hand held digital camcorders with applications in education that are just beginning to be realized.  Pure Digital Technologies was the first to develop the “flip” style video camcorder.  Others have jumped into the market such as Kodak, RCA, Creative, and Polaroid.  The flip digital video camcorder has a spring-loaded, flip out USB plug that can attach to any Mac or PC computer for easy downloading of video.  The Flip Video camcorder by Pure Digital also features built in video editing software (flip share) that allows the user to do simple editing.  These camcorders use simple, point and shoot buttons on the back for shooting video and have a built in fixed lens and microphone.  Commonly reported shortfalls include sometimes shaky video and poor audio if camera is not up close to its subject when shooting video.  Accessories include mini tripods, wide angle lenses, and rechargeable battery packs.
